I've occupied the DJ's seat for this program on non-commercial station WHRW in Binghamton, NY since 1979. I'll play whatever fits onto a turntable, into a CD player or through a broadband connection, because life's too short to listen to the same 20 or 30 tunes over and over again!

Summer programming has not yet officially begun, but I'm nonetheless in my summer time slot, 7-10 AM on Wednesdays. Three heaping hours of Bartlemaniac goodness!

Today's show contains an interview with the Grateful Dead's original manager (1965-85), Rock Scully. To say he's been 'round the block would be an understatement. He casts a new light on Woodstock, the Summer of Love and gives a critical but amusing account of the entertainment industry back in the day. I finish off with a tasty, hour-long space-oid mix.

(The interview with Rock Scully can be heard by itself at bartlespeaks.com.)

A bit late but not a bit sunburnt. Early stuff from Acid Mothers Temple, 70's David Bowie, Ted Nugent playing psychedelia long before he switched his guitar for a sniperscope, and a little Eddie Harris plus a few tasty thrift shop finds.

My show begins with an excerpt from the Spampinato Bros. performace at Casatwaways Bar, Ithaca NY (RIP) April 25, 2012. It continues with some heavy-on-the-fuzztone guitar acrobatics, Japanese dub (!), some new Screaming Females, ancient fusion and good old Grateful Dead.

April 25, 2012 - Space mix and Dweezil Zappa interview

The "space mix" (what I guess would now be called "chill-out" music) is a long-standing tradition at WHRW, dating from long-gone days when jocks and their listeners would be chemically enhanced before embarking on a musical journey. Hour 1 is one such mix, put together using both traditional analog methods and the latest in computing technology.

The second half of my program is an exclusive interview with Frank Zappa's oldest son and Zappa Plays Zappa front man, Dweezil Zappa. If you'd prefer, the entire interview can be heard by itself at http://bartlespeaks.com.

Knocked off the air by a transmitter malfunction last week, it's truly great to be back in the saddle again.

I open my show with a tribute of sorts to the Titanic whose infamous sinking happened 100 years ago last Sunday. I end with a 26-minute excerpt of an interview I did with Lost Lennon Tapes creator Elliot Mintz (the complete version is at Bartlespeaks.com).
